Terms and Conditions

22 October 2026

1. Seller

These terms and conditions (the “Terms”) govern the sale of electronic books on the website ebook.aesa.sk (the “Shop”).

Seller: AESA Group, SE, Haanova 2601/46, 851 04 Bratislava, Slovakia, company ID (IČO) 55361731, tax ID (DIČ) 2121966220, VAT ID SK2121966220, registered in the Commercial Register of the Bratislava III Municipal Court, section Po, file 9084/B (the “Seller”, “we” or “us”).

Contact for orders, complaints, withdrawal and questions: e-mail support@aesa.sk, phone +421 948 665 355. This is also the address for exercising your rights in respect of defects, withdrawing from the contract and requesting redress.

Supervisory authority: Slovak Trade Inspection (Slovenská obchodná inšpekcia), Inspectorate for the Bratislava Region, Bajkalská 21/A, P. O. BOX 5, 820 07 Bratislava (Act No. 22/2004 Coll. on Electronic Commerce, Act No. 108/2024 Coll. on Consumer Protection).

2. Definitions

• eBook — digital content in PDF format that we supply other than on a tangible medium, i.e. electronically as a download.

• Buyer — anyone who orders an eBook in the Shop. The Buyer may be a consumer or a business.

• Consumer — a natural person who, when concluding and performing the contract, is not acting within the scope of their trade, business, employment or profession (Act No. 108/2024 Coll.).

• Business — a Buyer who purchases the eBook for the purposes of their business activity, in particular a company that enters its company details or VAT ID at checkout.

• Contract — the distance contract for the supply of digital content between the Seller and the Buyer, of which these Terms form part.

• Stripe — Stripe Payments Europe, Limited, registered in Dublin, Ireland, the payment service provider whose payment page (Stripe Checkout) is used to pay.

3. Subject of the contract and features of the eBook

The subject of the Contract is the supply of the eBook shown on its page in the Shop and the grant of a licence to use it under section 8. The main characteristics of the eBook (title, language, length, format and contents) are shown on its page before you order.

The eBook is supplied as a PDF file without copy protection (no DRM). Every page except the title page carries a small licence line in the footer showing the Buyer’s e-mail address and order number. This line identifies the licence and does not restrict reading or printing for personal use.

The free sample chapter and the waiting list are not part of the purchase contract. We send the sample on request to the e-mail address you enter; how we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.

4. Ordering and conclusion of the contract

Ordering steps: on the eBook page you click the purchase button, the Shop takes you to the Stripe payment page, where you enter your e-mail, billing details and payment card, confirm the consent described in section 9 and click the button that indicates an obligation to pay (for example “Pay”).

Before submitting the order you can review and correct all details directly on the payment page. You can cancel at any time before confirming payment by returning to the Shop (Act No. 22/2004 Coll. on Electronic Commerce).

The Contract is concluded when the payment is successfully completed. We confirm the order by e-mail without undue delay. The confirmation contains the download link for the eBook, these Terms or a link to them, and confirmation of your consent and acknowledgement under section 9 (Act No. 108/2024 Coll.).

The Contract is concluded in Slovak or English depending on the language version of the Shop. Order data are stored by us and by Stripe; these Terms are permanently available at ebook.aesa.sk/en/terms/ and we will send you, on request, the version in force at the time of your order.

5. Price and VAT

The price of the eBook is shown on its page as the final price including value added tax. For eBooks supplied in Slovakia the reduced VAT rate of 5% applies (Annex No. 7a to Act No. 222/2004 Coll. on Value Added Tax).

We charge no additional fees for delivery by e-mail or for downloading. You will see the final amount payable on the Stripe payment page before you confirm payment.

The proof of purchase (invoice or payment receipt) is issued on our behalf by Stripe and sent to the e-mail address you enter at checkout.

6. Payment

Payment is made in advance by payment card or by another method offered at the time by the Stripe payment page. You enter your card details directly with Stripe; the Seller has no access to them.

Neither we nor Stripe charge you any extra fee for payment. Any fees charged by your bank or card issuer, for example for currency conversion, are outside our control.

7. Delivery and technical requirements

We deliver the eBook without undue delay after payment, usually within a few minutes: the page shown after payment displays a download button, and we send a download link to the e-mail address entered at checkout. The eBook is supplied at the moment we make the download link available to you (Slovak Civil Code, Section 852b).

The download link is valid for 1 year from payment and allows up to 10 downloads. Please save the file to your device after downloading. If you have not received the e-mail with the link within 24 hours, check your spam folder and write to us at support@aesa.sk.

Technical requirements: an internet connection for downloading and a device with a PDF reader, for example a computer, tablet, phone or e-reader that supports PDF. The pages are laid out in A4 format, so the book reads best on a larger screen or printed.

If we publish a corrected or updated edition of an eBook you have bought, we will send you a link to it by e-mail.

8. Licence and copyright

The eBook is a copyright work protected by Act No. 185/2015 Coll. (the Slovak Copyright Act). Buying it does not transfer ownership or copyright in the work; you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide licence of unlimited duration to use it as set out in this section.

• The licence is for one natural person. A Buyer that is a business may designate that person, for example a colleague; the e-mail in the licence line remains the Buyer’s e-mail.

• You may read the eBook on any number of your own devices, print it for your own use and keep a backup copy.

• You may not further distribute, sell, lend or make available to the public the eBook or any part of it (for example on a website, in shared folders or on a company intranet), nor remove or alter the licence line.

• A company that wants to make the book available to several readers buys one licence for each reader.

Quoting short excerpts with attribution to the extent permitted by the Copyright Act is not restricted by this section.

9. Consent to immediate supply and right of withdrawal

A consumer generally has the right to withdraw from a distance contract without giving any reason within 14 days of its conclusion (Section 19(1) and Section 20(1) of Act No. 108/2024 Coll.).

For digital content not supplied on a tangible medium you do not have this right if supply has begun, you gave your express consent before supply began to its beginning before the end of the withdrawal period, you acknowledged that you had been properly informed that by giving this consent you lose the right of withdrawal, and we sent you confirmation of this on a durable medium (Section 19(1)(m) and Section 17(10) and (12) of Act No. 108/2024 Coll.).

Notice: We supply the eBook immediately after payment. Before paying, you therefore confirm on the Stripe payment page that you expressly request supply of the eBook to begin before the end of the 14-day withdrawal period and that you have been informed that by giving this consent you lose your right of withdrawal. The order cannot be completed without this confirmation. You will receive confirmation of your consent and acknowledgement in the e-mail containing the download link.

You keep the right of withdrawal if any of these conditions was not met, in particular if you did not give the consent and acknowledgement or did not receive our confirmation of them. In that case you pay nothing for the eBook you have already received (Section 22(4)(b) of Act No. 108/2024 Coll.). The procedure and a model form are in the withdrawal information at ebook.aesa.sk/en/withdrawal/.

Your right to terminate the contract because of a defect in the eBook under section 10 is not affected.

10. Liability for defects and complaints

We are liable to consumers for defects in the eBook under the Slovak Civil Code (Sections 852a to 852n). The eBook is defective in particular if it does not match its description in the Shop, cannot be opened in a standard PDF reader, is incomplete or corrupted, or if its use is restricted by third-party rights.

We are liable for any defect the eBook had at the time of supply that becomes apparent within two years of supply (Section 852h(1) of the Civil Code). If a defect becomes apparent within one year of supply, it is presumed to have existed at the time of supply unless we prove otherwise (Section 852i(2)).

Report the defect by e-mail to support@aesa.sk, stating your order number or the e-mail used at checkout and a description of the defect. We will confirm receipt of your complaint without delay and state in the confirmation the period within which we will remedy the defect (Section 852h(6)).

We will remedy the defect free of charge, usually by providing a corrected file, no later than 30 days after you report it, unless a longer period is justified by an objective reason beyond our control (Section 852k(1)). If the defect cannot be remedied, is not remedied in time or recurs, you are entitled to a proportionate price reduction or may terminate the contract; termination is not possible for a minor defect (Section 852l). We will refund the reduction or the price paid within 14 days using the same payment method you used (Section 852l(3) and Section 852m(1)).

If we need to establish whether the cause of the defect lies in your device or software, we will ask for reasonable cooperation, for example the name and version of your PDF reader or a screenshot of the error (Section 852i(5)). If we reject a complaint, we will give you the reasons in writing, for example by e-mail (Section 852h(7)).

For Buyers who are not consumers, liability for defects is governed by the Slovak Commercial Code.

11. Purchases by businesses

A business enters its company name, address and VAT ID on the Stripe payment page. Stripe issues the proof of purchase with these details. VAT is applied in accordance with Act No. 222/2004 Coll. on Value Added Tax and the VAT rules applicable to the place of supply.

A Buyer purchasing for the purposes of their business is not a consumer. The provisions of these Terms on consumer rights, in particular section 9 and the withdrawal information, do not apply to them. The relationship is governed by the Slovak Commercial Code (Act No. 513/1991 Coll.).

For businesses, too, one licence covers one reader (section 8).

12. Dispute resolution and supervision

If you are not satisfied with how we handled your complaint, or believe we have infringed your rights, you can ask us for redress by e-mail to support@aesa.sk (Section 11(1) of Act No. 391/2015 Coll. on Alternative Dispute Resolution of Consumer Disputes).

If we reject your request or do not reply within 30 days of it being sent, you as a consumer may submit a proposal to start alternative dispute resolution (Section 11(3) and Section 12 of Act No. 391/2015 Coll.). The alternative dispute resolution body is the Slovak Trade Inspection, Central Inspectorate, Department for International Relations and Alternative Dispute Resolution of Consumer Disputes, Bajkalská 21/A, P. O. BOX 29, 827 99 Bratislava 27, e-mail ars@soi.sk, website www.soi.sk. You may also contact another competent body on the list kept by the Slovak Ministry of Economy or by the European Commission (consumer-redress.ec.europa.eu). Submit your proposal no later than one year after our rejection or after the 30-day period expired without a reply.

Alternative dispute resolution is voluntary for consumers and does not prevent you from going to court.

The European Union’s Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025 under Regulation (EU) 2024/3228, so we do not link to it.

Compliance with consumer protection law is supervised by the Slovak Trade Inspection, Inspectorate for the Bratislava Region, Bajkalská 21/A, P. O. BOX 5, 820 07 Bratislava.

13. Personal data

How we process personal data in connection with orders, the sample chapter and the waiting list is described in the Privacy Policy at ebook.aesa.sk/en/privacy/.

14. Final provisions

The Contract and these Terms are governed by the law of the Slovak Republic, in particular Act No. 108/2024 Coll., the Civil Code and Act No. 22/2004 Coll. If you are a consumer habitually resident in another country, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection afforded by the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence (Article 6 of Regulation (EC) No 593/2008, Rome I).

These Terms are drawn up in Slovak and English. In the event of any discrepancy between the language versions, the Slovak version prevails.

We may amend these Terms. A Contract is always governed by the version in force at the time of the order.

These Terms take effect on 22 October 2026.
